5 Easy Kid-Friendly Go To Dinner Ideas
When it comes to dinner time its not always easy choosing what to cook, especially when kids are involved. We all know how picky those little boogers can be. When it comes to my kids, I have only one rule: You at least have to try it! If they don’t like it after that, it’s fine. Most of the time this rule works, and they end up cleaning their plate, other times I end up fixing them something else. But like I said, I don’t mind as long as they try it. So we have complied our favorite kid approved go to meal.
Our recipe is super simple and quick to make. You can also substitute different ingredients, such as ground turkey instead of beef and it is still awesome. Most of the time when we make chili, its for hotdogs and/or hamburgers, but occasionally, we just eat it with cornbread. Another plus to this recipe is, if you make enough you can have leftovers. We normally throw some black, kidney, white, or pinto beans in there and have chili beans the next day. So if you think about it, you are technically cooking a two for one meal here.
2. Fried Chicken.
Chicken is always a no brainer when it comes to kids. They love it, in any form. With nuggets being their all time favorite, of course, this fried chicken recipe is a close second, or maybe even a tie. It’s quick, it’s easy, it’s crispy, and it’s delicious. It can be paired with fries, mashed potatoes, mac-n-cheese, or even chips. Plus, it is an awesome leftover, trust me I always make plenty to have the next day for lunch.
3. Tacos, Tacos, Tacos..
Can you say Taco Tuesday?… at our house these are a huge hit! Everyone has their own way of eating them.. salad, soft shell, hard shell, nachos . .you get the gist. So this has got to be the easiest dinner ever to fix for your family. The main thing you have to do with this dinner is make sure you managed to get “everyone’s favorite fix” from the grocery store. If you didn’t forget anything then Voila, you’re golden 🙂 Enjoy Taco Tuesday (or whatever day you plan).
Lasagna or Basagna, as my kids call it, is a family favorite. I have cooked this for just my small family of 5 and I have cooked this for everyone at my daughter’s birthday party, EVERYBODY loves it. If you cook this for a large group, be prepared to be asked at least 10 times what the recipe is. Now, this is not an original recipe of mine. It is from Ree Drummond, The Pioneer Woman, she calls it “The Best Lasagna Ever”. And trust me when I say, there will be no disappointment with this recipe.
This meal is by far the easiest of the five we have listed. You literally throw everything into a crockpot and walk away. The next time you see this meal will be at dinner time when it is on your plate.
